Chiropractic

Philosophy

Chiropractic is not an alternative to medicine nor is it complementary to medicine. It is a separate and distinct science, art and philosophy of health and healing. Chiropractic is the largest natural health profession in the world and is based on the premise that the body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism and that the nervous system is the master control system of the body. Minor displacements of the spinal bones, known as vertebral subluxations, can cause stress to the spinal cord and spinal nerves, which acts as the main line of innate intelligence for the whole body. Subluxations are the cause of many unwanted health conditions and the #1 cause of dis-ease in the body.

Chiropractic is founded upon a single, basic premise: all living things have an inborn healing ability, which constantly works to maintain us in health and heal us if we are injured or diseased. This inner healing ability is controlled by the nervous system, which controls all other systems of the body.

Every organ, tissue, and cell is controlled by nerve impulses traveling from the brain to all parts of the body. Nerves make possible all movement and transmit all sensations to the brain such as sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. Nerves maintain balance and keep the body temperature at 98.6 degrees. Nerves control the liver, lungs, spleen, pancreas, gall bladder, and kidneys.

The spine houses and protects the spinal cord. The nerves leave the spinal cord through openings between movable spinal bones called vertebrae. When vertebrae become misaligned through injury or posture problems, they interfere with the normal function of these nerves. This misalignment causes pain and dysfunction of the nerve system and is called a subluxation.

The objective of chiropractic care is to determine, through x-ray films, computerized spinal scan, and a thorough examination, the exact, degree of spinal misalignment producing this subluxation. Precise adjustments are given to remove these subluxations and thus remove the cause of pain and dysfunction.

Much of the practice of medicine today is the suppression of symptoms with drugs. Swallowing drugs while your general health deteriorates is not the way to live your life.

We all know of people who are "walking medicine cabinets," who take many drugs for their "health" but are not healing. If the drugs could heal, they wouldn't be needed after a few doses. Further, the side effects of medicines can and do cause considerable damage.

If we are ever to achieve and maintain true health, we need to stop thinking in terms of treating illnesses and start thinking in terms of creating wellness. No pill on the planet can match the power of the body to achieve health. Instead, work on getting your body truly healthy through diet, exercise, and regular chiropractic care.

Testimonials

In 1997 I injured my lower back and was told that I had to quit doing regular housework, sports, and even school due to pain and lack of concentration from medications. After two epidurals, four cortisone shots, 81 trigger point injections, numerous oral medications that failed to ease any pain, physical therapy that didn't do much good, and six months of biweekly colchicines injections from an orthopedic specialist, I was still unable to lean forward or backward, sleep, or lift 20 pounds.

Upon referral, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Guy and began my regular chiropractic adjustments. Now, I can do just about everything I have missed out on for nearly five years! I am now able to ride horses, bike, camp, fish, and play golf and softball, clean house (unfortunately!), and even sleep through the night. I have tried so many other methods in an attempt to get my health back to normal. I was very surprised by the results and effectiveness of chiropractic and highly recommend it to others.
